Troop 70700 hosted the second annual Spooky Walk in the Park on October 23rd. This creative event was born last year during the challenges of social distancing, and we had so much fun, we couldn’t wait to do it again.
The Spooky Walk took place at the Hillsdale Park nature trail in Berthoud. The Troop 70700 Seniors and Ambassadors brought costumes and props to the trail, creating spooky stations for a “not too scary” adventure for younger children. This event takes advantage of a beautiful natural area in our town, with plenty of spaces for creepy creatures to hide.
As darkness fell, LED candle lanterns lit the pathway, where guests were greeted by a fortune teller, warning of the monsters along the path. As the visitors proceeded on the walk, they met a scarecrow, ghost, snake charmer, vampires, black cat, pumpkin head, witch and many more characters. A candy treat waited at the end for those who braved the path.
Troop 70700 are a group of adventurous teens who bring enthusiasm and creativity to all they do. The Troop has thrived during the challenges of Covid, finding unique new ways to host events in the outdoors and share their love of Girl Scouting with the community.
This year’s Spooky Walk was attended by approximately 140 guests, including several Girl Scout troops and neighborhood kids.
We’re already planning ahead for next year!
