Girl Scouts of Colorado thanks Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) State Advocacy Manger, Corinne Pickus, for co-hosting our “Meet an Expert” webinar. More than 15 Girl Scouts from across Colorado participated in this webinar on October 20, 2020. Missed it? Listen to the recording HERE.
Corinne works in the Girl Scout Advocacy Center based in Washington, D.C. The Girl Scout State Advocacy Center provides a tool for you to become a voice for girls and make a difference in your community and across the nation. Together, we can educate policymakers and community leaders on issues that directly affect girls and Girl Scouts. By being an advocate, you will have an impact on girl policy issues moving through Congress and state legislatures.
During the webinar, Corinne spoke with girls about her experience as a student at University of Colorado, Boulder and interning for Governor Polis when he was a state representative. She told girls about how she developed an interest in advocacy and how we can all be advocates every day. She even shared a few of her most memorable experiences as an advocacy manager including organizing a campout for Girl Scouts on the White House lawn in 2015.
