When Daisies earn the Space Science Explorer badge, they’ll have explored and observed the Sun, Moon, and stars.
Time to meet the last thing in our sky, the stars! Did you know that the Sun is the closest star to us? Most of the stars in the sky are very far away, trillions of miles away!
Step Three: Meet the Stars
Watch this video to learn how to make your own constellation. Constellations are patterns in the stars that people see shapes in. Some of the most seen are Ursa Major (aka the Big Dipper or the Great Bear) and Orion’s Belt. You can make your own constellation, starting with your hand. Place stars at the tips of your fingers, palm, and wrist. Connect the stars in a pattern that makes sense to you, and then name your new start pattern!
We want to hear how your girl is using her Girl Scout skills by taking initiative, caring for the community, and Girl Scouting at home. She can send in her story here.
