Camp like a G.I.R.L. for summer 2018: Registration for sessions at Sky High Ranch and Tomahawk Ranc

Camp like a G.I.R.L. (go-getter, innovator, risk-taker, and leader)! At Girl Scout Camp, girls will step out of their comfort zone, embrace the unfamiliar, and grow their confidence as they develop leadership skills. For summer 2018, your girl can rough-it survivor-style, summon the courage to zip down the zip line, sing and dance with new friends, or even paint a chicken’s toe nails!

Girl Scouts of Colorado offers a variety of sessions designed for girls entering first grade through seniors in high school at both Sky High Ranch near Colorado Springs or Tomahawk Ranch southwest of Denver. Overnight camp sessions are 3 days, 6 days, or 2 weeks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Jan. 18 on the Girl Scouts of Colorado website at girlscoutsofcolorado.org. Sessions for summer 2018 include:

  1. “Ranch Camp” at Tomahawk Ranch- Experience all that Tomahawk has to offer! Girls will try fire building, cook outdoors on a campfire, learn to navigate by the stars and a compass, and trail marking.

  2. Oopy Goopy Science at Sky High Ranch – Girls will learn how to launch pop and tea bag rockets, explode watermelons, and make fizzy lemonade to drink.

  3. “Survivor” at Tomahawk Ranch- Older girls will find out first-hand if they have what it takes to be a survivor. They’ll practice advanced camping, survival skills, fire-building, and outdoor cooking techniques, as well as learn the foods best for survival, knife safety, and knot tying.

  4. Archer’s Quest at Sky High Ranch – Girls can become the next Sacagawea or Annie Oakley by learning marksmanship, as well as outdoor skills like orienteering, canoeing, zip lining, and shelter building.

The entire summer camp schedule is posted on the Girl Scouts of Colorado website (http://www.camp.girlscoutsofcolorado.org/). Register early. Some sessions fill in just a few hours!

Girl Scouts of Colorado also offers day camp, family camp, and troop camp adventures throughout the state.
